A merge queue for the GitHub Team plan.

Turn on auto-merge and a pull request joins the queue. MergeRamp tests it on the latest main, then GitHub merges it under your rules.

Free for up to 5 committers. Larger teams start with a 14-day trial, no card.

Why not GitHub’s merge queue?

For private repositories, GitHub’s own queue needs Enterprise Cloud. Auto-merge alone is on every plan, but it leaves your team updating branches by hand and merging PRs that were never tested together.

Three stops to main.

  1. 01

    Turn on auto-merge

That’s how a PR joins the line. There’s nothing new for your team to learn.

  2. 02

    Wait on the ramp

At the front, MergeRamp updates the branch with main and waits for your required checks.

  3. 03

    GitHub merges it

Green means go. GitHub merges under your branch protection, and the next PR moves up.

From sign-in to your first queue.

Setup happens on GitHub and in MergeRamp, with nothing to install on your machines. Each GitHub organization gets its own workspace, with its own plan and billing.

  1. 01

    Sign in with GitHub

Your GitHub account is your MergeRamp account. There’s no separate password.

  2. 02

    Choose your organization

Create its workspace, or join the one your team already has.

  3. 03

    Install the GitHub App

Pick the repositories it can see. An owner installs it, and members can ask an owner from GitHub.

  4. 04

    Get repositories ready

MergeRamp checks auto-merge and required checks for each repository, and tells you what’s missing.

Start setup

You can finish later. Repositories that aren’t ready won’t queue pull requests.

Steer it with labels.

HELD

hold

Keeps a PR off the ramp until you remove the label.

UP NEXT

hotfix

Jumps the waiting line. The PR already being tested finishes first.

EJECTED

No label needed

A failed required check or a conflict sends the PR back, with the reason in a comment.

Priced by who commits.

Your band is set by active committers on private repositories in the last 30 days. Public repositories are free. Every plan has the whole product.

How do I set it up?

Sign in with GitHub, choose your organization, and install the GitHub App on the repositories you want queued. MergeRamp then checks each repository’s settings and lists anything missing, such as auto-merge being turned off. Once a repository is ready, the next PR with auto-merge on joins the queue.

Who in my organization can set it up?

Organization owners install the GitHub App and create the workspace. Members can request the app from GitHub, and owners are notified there. Once a workspace exists, any verified member of the organization can join it without an invite.

What will the GitHub App be able to access?

Only the repositories you choose. MergeRamp uses your GitHub identity and organization membership to connect you to a workspace, and checks repository settings and pull requests to prepare your queue. Review the exact permissions shown on GitHub before installing or approving access. MergeRamp never merges anything; GitHub merges each pull request under your branch protection rules.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Paid plans start with a 14-day trial with no card, and nothing is charged automatically. When it ends, you choose whether to subscribe. Organizations with up to 5 active committers can use Free instead, which doesn’t expire.

We have more than one GitHub organization.

Each organization gets its own workspace, with its own plan, trial and billing. You can switch between them after signing in, and choosing a plan for one never changes another.

What happens when a check fails?

The PR is ejected from the queue, with the failed check and commit named in a comment. Fix it and turn auto-merge back on to rejoin. The next PR moves up in the meantime.

Is MergeRamp part of GitHub?

No. MergeRamp is an independent GitHub App and isn’t affiliated with GitHub, Inc. It works with GitHub’s own auto-merge and branch protection, so GitHub stays in charge of every merge.
